Spring into Learning

Spring into Learning is a free early education program for children up to 5 years and their families in Kalgoorlie. The Spring into Learning program is offered on school sites which facilitates the positive connections between families and the formal school environment.

The program runs at East Kalgoorlie Primary School each Wednesday from 9:00am to 11:30am during school terms.

Our aim is to equip children and families with the skills and experiences that are needed for a successful school transition.

Children are born ready to learn, and it is well-known that the early years of life are the most important for learning.  At Spring into Learning we provide fun and engaging experiences to enable all ages of children to develop at their own pace and in their own way.

The structured program is delivered by qualified educators over two hours each week. The program consists of activities that encourage learning through play and develop the skills that will prepare children for school.

Educators can also assist families to navigate appropriate referrals if required.

What is the Enhanced Transition to Schools Project?

The Enhanced Transition to Schools Project is a partnership between the Department of Education, Playgroup WA, the Department of Local Government and Communities and non-government school sectors.

The Project supports setting up community based playgroups on or near a school site to help families become familiar with the school environment and build relationships with staff. This provides benefits for both families and the school.

What is playgroup?

A playgroup is a group of parents, caregivers and extended family who meet together with their babies and young children for interaction, socialisation, support and shared learning through play.

Most sessions run for 1-2 hours, with parents and caregivers staying with children as part of the group throughout the session.
